This Approval Determinator has been developed using the flow diagram produced by Nigel Whiteley and the North East London Approvals Food Liaison Sub Group. (NELAFLSG)
It should be treated as a general guide to approval decisions but not as definitive. It does not deal with the detailed rules for the specific categories of products of animal origin (in Reg 853, Ann III). If in doubt about the approval status of an establishment, you are advised first to examine the regulations, guidance from the EU and the FSA, and to consult your food liaison group, LACORS, the FSA or your own legal services.
